Founded in 2011, Sonnenschmied Group has grown steadily year after year. We are grateful for every new member of our professional team and value the diverse backgrounds and experience they bring.
History
Today, with more than 50 team members, the Sonnenschmied Group is one of the most experienced photovoltaic providers in northern Germany — and we continue to grow. But it didn’t start that way.
The idea for Sonnenschmied was born in 2011 with a mission to supply clean energy to the Lüneburg region. Starting out in a modest basement office in Reppenstedt, a small group of committed colleagues secured the first customers. Forward-thinking concepts and projects such as Sonnenhaus+ were already demonstrating our capabilities early on.
As project complexity increased, so did the demand for specialized skill sets. Our team expanded to include professionals from diverse technical and academic fields, such as master craftsmen, electrical engineers, automation technicians, and business specialists.

Despite challenging early market conditions for photovoltaics in Germany — including manufacturer exits, competitor closures, and reduced subsidies — our persistence and determination proved successful. The societal shift toward renewable energy accelerated demand, leading to sustained growth and a strategic realignment in 2023. The Group now operates through two divisions: Industriesysteme (industrial photovoltaic systems) and Home Systems (residential solar solutions).
